I am a LEO and was placed on a 5150 hold wrongfully (long story.) I have an outstanding career with no blemishes in my personnel file. So I lost my rights to own a firearm and was suspended from my job because of it. My Department confiscated all of my weapons. My union will not provide any assistance (legal help) in order to restore my rights and I do not have any money to hire a lawyer. My Department has basically written me off and also will not provide any assistance. So anyway, I really don't want to go back being a police officer and don't know if I can. I would like to get my guns back because I found a job out of California and will be moving. I thought about transferring ownership of the guns into a relatives name but three of them are not registered and the DOJ forms are ever so confusing. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You really need to consult an Attorney. Good luck ...

That sucks man. What were the circumstances behind the 5150 and why do you say it was wrongful? Was it like an angry spouse situation, she called the cops, said you were gonna kill yourself or something like that?
Even so, hire the best attorney you can afford and try to defeat the 5150. Even if you don't wanna be a cop anymore you should still be able to get it overturned, get your rights back and move. Does the 5150 suspend your gun rights in CA or the whole country ? If it is only state I'd say just move someplace else. If it is the whole country, hire that attorney and fight it, fight it , fight it. If you were a cop for a long time and had a good record that will work in your favor and look good to the judge.Originally posted by RookieShooterOne of the theory is that the hormones they put in the milk. Attorney, now! You will need professional legal counsel in order to set things right.
I wish you luck.
Unless of course you are 5150, or unless you are a troll, then you can...Sorry, not sorry.
