Can I self register a handgun that now is not on the DOJ approved list?

To better answer your question we need more details.

    You can.

The real question is "Why are you doing it?".

If you are just letting the DOJ you own it, that is fine.

If you are trying to transfer possession using the "self-register" then no. (Some family bequest/exemptions)
You think you know, but you have no idea.

The information posted here is not legal advice. If you seek legal advice hire an attorney who is familiar with all the facts of your case.

The big questions on the CDOJ form:

How obtained, when obtained and from whom.?

Brought it in from out of State on your own? Felony

Someone sold it to you without going thru an FFL? Illegal.

Someone other than a vertical relative gifted it to you? Illegal.

Someone sent it to you from out of State? Felony.

Intentionally lie on the CDOJ Form? Illegal.
