Is it legal to bring ammo onto college grounds?

On Sunday I used my backpack as a range bag and I was just digging through my books and I found a stray 9mm round.

I dont ever plan on bringing ammo to school but Im curious if it is legal or not.

Don't you work as a paralegal in a law office where they practice criminal law?

PC 30310 is quite clear, but the wording of it caused me to think that it may not be aimed at above grade 12.

I tried looking up the definition of "School Grounds" but there were so many and I could not be sure which one applied to this section.

              I found 626(a)(4) which states:

"School" means any public or private elementary school, junior
high school, four-year high school, senior high school, adult school
or any branch thereof, opportunity school, continuation high school,
regional occupational center, evening high school, or technical
school or any public right-of-way situated immediately adjacent to
school property or any other place if a teacher and one or more
pupils are required to be at that place in connection with assigned
              school activities.
The definition in the GFSZ also applies to only grades K-12.

Was the OP referring to a K-12 school or to a college/university?

Does anyone have a more specific definition of "School Grounds"?

I think you may be correct, but the 626(a)(4) definition applies to only that chapter (PC 626 - 626.11) - what 'school grounds' may mean in 30310 is not clearly specified in PC.

I would think, conservatively, that leaving ammo at home would be a good idea. It's another 'low probability of detection' issue with 'ruin your day' possibilities.

Plus schools have their own policies. Might not get you arrested, but could get you kicked out for good.

When I carry ammo onto a school grounds it is safely packaged in the magazine of my pistol. Ah, the joys of having a CCW.

Correct, they can't buy handguns until they are 21 but, an 18 year old senior can legally OWN a handgun.

True, but this is CA. Doubt many seniors are going to own handguns.

On my daughters eighteenth birthday she went down to the LGS, got her HSC and sent in the paperwork to transfer my wife's Browning 1911-22 to her. So he last two months of her senior year she owned one.
