As of the beginning of this year...
You do have to register pretty much all firearms when moving into the state. 1) To some extent - some people like to suggest that, because CA's rules are not so extreme as they might be, we don't have 'registration'. CA calls what new residents must do 'registration', and associating a gun by make/model/serial with a name and Driver License (or other ID #) looks like 'registration' to me.I recently move to California, I have been reading Calgun forum's, and anything I can find online, regarding Cal firearm laws, without stating the obvious, which all of you on here already know,

3) Yes, in the sense of 'you must register them (and handguns) when you move here'.

The roster only applies to dealer sales out of dealer inventory.I recently move to California, I have been reading Calgun forum's, and anything I can find online, regarding Cal firearm laws, without stating the obvious, which all of you on here already know, but is there firearm registration, or not. Can I bring in a handgun that is not on the roster, do long guns need to be "registered"?
As of January, 2014, all firearms imported into the state by a resident need to be registered. You also need to make certain that none of the firearms are classified as assault weapons. And, no magazines which can hold more than 10 rounds can be imported.

What if I purchased a non roster handgun from a guy out of state. I have it I'm not getting rid of it. Can I use the form bof 4542a to register it? Will the men in black come to my door and try to take it? I would like to add it to my CCW.
