    ...

A friend asked me about shipping a firearm he has for sale.

He said he had an offer from someone a few hours away from him and they wanted the gun shipped to them.

Both are located in So Cal.

Question, can he just send it himself to the buyers FFL?

or Does it have to be FFL to FFL.?

Its on the Roster .No issues there.

I have never shipped a gun so had no answer..So thought I would try you guys for some info.

    thanks

My friend had to include a copy of his license and a copy of a
Bill of sale showing who it was sold to in the shipment. Dros was a regular process once the ffl got it. The buyer goes in and starts it like he was buying it directly.

If they're only hours away, it might be better to meet somewhere. Overnight shipping is expensive and the ffl will charge a $60-150 (depends on their own fees) transfer fee, rather than a $30 ppt fee

Couple of other things to keep in mind, since it is not a PPT has to be on the roster. Also it is up to the receiving FFL on if they will accept a shipment direct from a non-FFL. There is no requirement to have it shipped from FFL to FFL, but some dealers will not accept if otherwise.

Not true, the one I bought from my friend out of state was an off roster shield 9mm. Had to sse it but it doesn't have to be on the roster. Of course that's another subject...

Ok I'll clear it up a bit for those who want to nit pick. It has to be either on the roster or made exempt, either SSE or single action conversion.
