Question about a PPT from a dead original owner.

So a good friend of mine's husband passed away last month. She has 4 rifles that were registered to him. They are newer rifles (not C&R). She would like to give them to me. How do i go about legally transferring these rifles into my name since they are registered to someone thats deceased? Can i do the voluntary registration form on them, or is there something special I have to do. Thank you.

Unless bought after jan 1 2014 or a raw they wouldn't be registered to the husband as long gun registration just started. You might just be able to voluntarily register them, but I don't know. Hopefully someone else can chime in on the legalities.

      answered in your other thread.

just have the widow meet you at your local FFL where she can PPT the rifles to you. that is the legal way to do it. some FFLs may not want to do the PPT and give you excuses, but to be proper, they need to be PPTed to you.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
