Please help, I'm not sure what to do...

Ok, here is my story, in 1998 I was in another state, 17 yrs old, long story short, plead guilty to 2nd degree burglary (pc 459, I think). was given deferred adjudication and 3yrs probation. court dismissed and discharged in 1991. court ordered criminal justice agencies prohibiting disclosure of any criminal history (sealed records). I was also allowed not to provide any info on this on any applications, including licensing.

in 2006 I had the county sheriff, in CA, do a record search for me, got a letter from them, all negative (means good), it said "No state firearms prohibitions", which is good...

-Bought a hand gun in 1992, no problems
-Bought a rifle in 1994, no problems
-Bought a shotgun in 2003, no problems

Here is the problem, I applied for Guardcard with firearms in 1991, which gets filed with FBI, got turned down by FBI.

besides 1988, never had any issues with law enforcement. clean record.

I want to file for CCW, but not sure if I can...I looked at PFEC, but it says if it comes as prohibited, I have to turn in all of my firearms to the sheriff...

What do I do? don't want to make things worsted. Looks like as far as CA is concerned that my record is clean enough for a getting a firearm, but then why was I denied the GC w/firearm?

As has been said many times on this forum, this is not a question you want to be asking publicly... you should contact a firearms-knowledgeable attorney to help you resolve this.

In my past profession, we ran every hire into the FBI for background checks....

We always got copies of the sealed and juvenile RAP sheets....

Just because it is sealed, does not mean that when your prints hit the FBI, it is not available....

As others have said.... time to consider hiring or consulting an attorney to see about a full restoration of your rights...
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

I don't believe an internet forum can give better advice here than 'hire an attorney'.

        Good luck.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
