What are the procedures to sell a pistol I bought back in 1981 from a guy in the Midwest without ever registering it in California?

Fill out the new resident handgun registration form to the CADOJ, pay $19, and you're good to go.

Oh, nevermind. No need to register, new owner will have it registered when performing DROS. I've done multiple sales like that when I was a CA resident over many years.Originally posted by Colonel David Crockett"Ya'll can go to hell, I'm goin' to Texas!"

Find a California-resident buyer; both go to the same local FFL; do a California 'Private Party Transfer'.
In 1981, there was no 'new resident' registration in California.
But using an FFL for interstate transfer has been Federal law since 1968; for a California resident, that FFL should have been in California.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment
