    Obtaining registration records

Not sure if I'm posting in the correct place. A relative collected firearms years ago and is getting up there in age. He would like to know if there is any way he can get a list of firearms registered under his name. I searched the DOJ forms site and didn't find anything. Thanks.

How many years ago? There might not be any records.

Long gun information was not routinely collected until this year; unless he might have 'registered assault weapons' or have voluntarily registered some/all of his long guns, there will be no records.

If he purchased handguns through a CA FFL, those have been reported to CA since 1923; he could file this form - http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/ag...teCitizen.pdf? - to see what CA might list. AFS is reputed to be incomplete and in some cases inaccurate.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Thanks, BKinzey and Librarian. I'll give him the info. I've seen some pretty nice pieces in his collection. Hopefully, he'll keep them in the family.
