How to transfer deceased uncle’s gun

One of my uncles passed away recently. While cleaning out some of his stuff, my aunt found a handgun that belonged to him. She asked me if I wanted it as I am the only one in the family that is into guns.

I’m trying figure out the legal way to do this. Do I just have my aunt go with me to a gun store to do a private party transfer? If so, would she need to bring a death certificate or anything else?

I know that if she wanted to keep it, she could just fill out an Operation of Law form on CFARS. However, she doesn’t have a Firearms Safety Certificate. The problem is, she is older and not in the best heath. She probably wouldn’t be able to take the Firearms Safety Certificate test, let along pass. So if she would need to do that, it probably wouldn’t happen.

It’s some kind of Glock. I haven’t seen it, but I seem to remember him saying it was a Glock 20, so probably a Gen 3. He used to go looking for rocks out in the middle of nowhere and I seem to remember he said he bought it for mountain lions.
