    Ammo Purchase Denial

Today I went into Sportsman's Warehouse to buy 10 boxes of ammo. I have purchased ammo at this same store as recently as 12/29/23 and many other times and have always been approved. Today I got a Denial. I logged into CFARS entered the DROS number. All it says is I will receive a letter from CA DOJ within 90 days. I did notice on my CFARS User Profile there was no address information listed under " Your Additional Details". Do you think that would cause a denial?
Anyone been able to purchase ammo then suddenly receive a denial?

Have you moved? Do you have any guns registered at the address on your drivers licence?

Have not moved. I have bought several firearms at this address and have lived here for 15 years. The only thing I did recently was register for a CFARS account so that I could work on getting a COE and FFL03. I see a section on CFARS where I can add a firearm. I read on another post they added a firearm and then they were able to purchase ammo.

That section would be used to change your address if you had moved.

Did they give you a copy of the rejected DROS sheet? I would make sure that all of your information was entered correctly on the form, before I did anything else. All too often something gets mistyped, or if the swiped the mag strip, the info on the license doesn't always transfer over correctly. (This happens a lot with hyphenated last names) If the person entering it doesn't check it it will reject, since the name probably won't match in AFS.

You can also try to purchase somewhere else. If a second attempt fails, the most common issue I've seen is a DMV problem, license expired, or something else along similar lines.

The clerk pulled up my last successful ammo purchase from December and we compared it to the copy of the rejected DROS and everything matched. I pulled out my old dros for my firearms and noticed the street name is all one word but on my ID it is entered as two words with a space in between. (Ex: Mullberry vs Mull Berry) Not sure if that would trigger a denial. Either way I went onto CFARS and updated my address as it was shown on my firearm DROS and entered my firearm information.

Just went to DMV and they confirmed I have a real ID and there is nothing to show on my license. Everything in good standing.

I would submit to CRPA and Chuck Michel & Associates. More fuel for their lawsuit showing damages.

I think I made some progress. After Updating CFARS with my address exactly as it shows on my ID, and firearm info I received and e mail telling me to go onto CFARS to approve the changes. It now shows that I have one firearm record. My street name was all one word on my dros for firearms but when I recently renewed my license DMV put the street name as two words with a space in between. I can only guess that is why I was able to buy ammo before and then got denied after my DL renewal. I will still wait and see what the letter I receive says but I think this might have fixed it. I will update again after I try to purchase some ammo.

This is the problem. There can not be any errors in how its typed in from the very last dros

Same thing here. It is the space. All guns were sold under last name ex. McGregor. If ammo is sold as Mc Gregor, it will be denied. This state is f'ed up.

                        Update:
Just received the attached letter from DOJ today. Reason for ammo denial " DOJ records indicate you are not eligible to own or possess ammunition." I'm not sure what's goin on. I have bought multiple firearms and was able to buy ammo 15 to 20 times over the past 4 years. I'm going to go do the Live Scan Monday. I haven't been arrested or had any restraining orders since purchasing firearms. Does anyone have any advice on how to clear this up?

This is exactly why folks acquire ammunition in free states. It is what free people do.

I get that. I dont feel like driving to another state and risking getting arrested for importing ammunition.

I figured the doj letter went out before I updated cfars. I went to try to purchase ammo again with the information with and without a space. Both ways were denied. With the letter saying I'm prohibited should I give them to a family member until I can figure out what is going on? I really don't feel like getting woken up at 5am to my door being kicked in over incorrect records.
