CCW and the Los Angeles Metro

When CCW eventually becomes shall issue, if I take the metro to work, how would this effect me? or would it take a court case to say its violating my rights to restrict me carrying on public transportation?

One of the main reasons I want a CCW is the sheer amount of crazy / criminal people I see on the train on a daily basis.

Also, if my employer does not allow CCW on site, would they be required to provide a check in area and storage of my CCW?

Or would something as simple as locking it in a portable safe unloaded while on work properties be acceptable?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Does Metro not allow firearms? I would assume it is like a hotel. IF they discovered you were carrying, they would ask you to leave, and if you didn't, you would be cited or arrested for trespassing.
At work, private property, I can almost guarentee would require a court case. AZ just legalized CCW'ing in bars.

Worry about all this AFTER it happens. Until then work on making it happen.

Public transportation is kind of like private property in the respect that the 'owner' can make rules. After all, you can't fly a commercial airliner strapped, right?

Required to? I doubt it. If they aren't gun friendly now I'd imagine shall issue or close to it won't make them gun friendly after.

If the employer's policy is no weapons on their turf, then even locked in a portable safe and stuffed into your desk drawer could, I think, pretty easily be spun into a policy violation. IANAL, but I am a hiring manager in a company with a fairly strict no weapons on premise policy.

Well, don't act like that's a law of nature. It's only been true since, what, the seventies?

Metal detectors = no carry. No metal detectors = carry.

so its legal to carry CCW for defense. You are not intending to use it, just prepared to use anything you can. I am prepared to use my bare hands if needed...that doesn't mean my hands are "weapons" or I intend to use them that way.

Public transportation is not private property.

I don't think that will work.

                    10% has it right.

I don't think this will survive a court challenge, as there is no exemption for CCW. Also, airlines are not "public transportation". Wanna be the test case?

airlines also allow for transportation of weapons via check in, as does Amtrak, now. The Metro needs to adjust its code.
