    Moving to CA, Form-4010A

Posting for someone else who is moving back to CA after 4 years and bringing his firearms with him.

He plans to keep few and transfer rest. Does he has to fill out Form-4010A for all the firearms he is importing into CA or he can transfer few via a FFL to a CA resident and fill out the form for only the ones he plans to keep for himself.

    Thanks.

He can sell/transfer some or all, provided that he does not exceed 5 transactions, before 60 days without doing the form. After that, the ones he has will have to be reported to the state via the form you mentioned.

Within 60 days of moving to CA with CA legal firearms and becoming a CA resident (obtaining a valid CA DL/ID), the new resident of CA must do one of the following: [PC 27560]
          A. Report all of the CA legal firearms to CA DOJ BOF. [PC 27560(a)]
          B. Transfer the CA legal firearms through a CA FFL dealer. [PC 27560(b)]
          C. Transfer the CA legal firearms to a CA FFL dealer. [PC 27560(c)]
          D. Transfer the firearms to a CA LE agency. [PC 27560(d)]
*All of these options requires a valid CA DL/ID.

Reporting to CA DOJ BOF can be accomplish by:
          A. Downloading New Resident Firearm Ownership Report (BOF 4010A, rev 01/2020), completing it, and mailing it with payment to CA DOJ BOF.
          B. Accessing CFARS and utilizing CRIS to submit a completed New Resident Firearm Ownership Report online.
*Both of these requires a copy of a valid CA DL/ID and other documents to be included with the submission, in order for the report to be completed.
~Within 6-24 months, after cashing in the payment for the report, CA DOJ will mail an acknowledgement letter for the submitted report.

          Penal Code 27560
          (a) Within 60 days of bringing a handgun, and commencing January 1, 2014, any firearm, into this state, a personal firearm importer shall do one of the following:
