BB RAW Application mail in processing time?

    Move if wrong section.

Couldn't get the website to work last time so just sent in the form 8017 form by mail this time for a single rifle.

Have picture of the postmark to confirm it was in USPS hands well before deadline. But my check hasn't been cashed yet. Called their office and was told they haven't received my application yet.

Anyone have any experience on the turn-around time for a mailed in 8017? When did your check cash?

Can I use the rifle, or do I need to wait until I have paperwork in hand? Currently disassembled for cleaning so I don't have it in any sort of configuration....

Department of Justice, Bureau of Firearms - AWR
    P.O. Box 160367

It it wasn't mailed to the above address, then it may have been discarded or lost from being redirected.

      Yup.
      Per the form:
"The following must be submitted with your reporting form and mailed to the Department of Justice, Bureau of Firearms -
      AWR, P.O. Box 160367 Sacramento, CA 95816-0367"

      Exactly what I used.

And have photos of the address and postmark with date in the hand of USPS. My question was does anyone have any experience or expectations with this process. I know I have the address right, the form filled out correctly and all supporting documents included.

I received my acceptance letter from the ca dept of justice yesterday showing my BBRAW was now legally registered in Kalifornia. Whoopie.

As my rifle is multi caliber the form letter had 8888 where the caliber otherwise would have been.

Now i have to transport it to the legal places it can be transported to in a locked case without the magazine in it.

I hope the Supreme Court fixes this 2nd amendment issue soon…

My form was done on line, not mailed

Nice, but likely doesn't have same force as sending via registered mail.

It is perfectly legal to transport a BBRAW with an EMPTY magazine attached.

                Updating for those searching later:

Check dated 4/5 sent in with application was just deposited 5/25.

                So wheels are turning.... Slowly.

                  Final update, paperwork arrived 6/27.

                  So, about 90 days total.
