    Christmas if Coming (gifts anyone)?

    Happy Friday everyone!

So the holidays are upon us and rather than nod to friends and colleagues babble on about Jack and Jill wanting a PS4 or Prada bag they can't get, and being upset that is likely stuck across the beach from me waiting to make it to the Port of LA/Long Beach, I am thinking of suggesting to them to buy American and screw the supply chain issues that are largely self-inflicted, especially in the case of many vanity gifts.

Let's assume Jack and Jill (2 or more kids) are over 18.

Dad (or mom) could buy 2 (or more) .22LR, rimfire, rifles and give them to the children for Christmas (or Kwanza, Hanukah, etc..)

Assuming the parent can pass the DROS and has/gets an FSC, this could all be done up until the 14th of December, assuming their local FFL has them something to sell them at that point (10/22, CMMG Resolution 100).

Parent/child would be responsible for the Operation of Law filing within 30 days of the gift being received.

Only the 10 day limit should apply? Obviously 10 round mags only.

Dad could have a brood of 3 18 year old boys and girls and get them one each in red, white, and blue?

Am I missing anything? Please not too many hand grenades or flames.

Obviously not all children (minor or not) should be in possession of firearms, but I grew up with a 22 and appreciated the time with my father and grandfather learning to shoot and, of course, a health respect for firearms.

The children need to have a valid FSC or exemption to the FSC, in order to legally be able to receive the firearm as a gift from their parent. [PC 27875(a)(4)]

The person receiving the firearm is the person responsible for submitting the completed Report of Intra-Familial Firearm Transaction to CA DOJ BOF. [PC 27875(a)(3)]

    Penal Code 27875
    (a) Section 27545 does not apply to the transfer of a firearm by gift, bequest, intestate succession, or other means from one individual to another, if all of the following requirements are met:
    (1) The transfer is infrequent, as defined in Section 16730.
    (2) The transfer is between members of the same immediate family.
    (3) Within 30 days of taking possession of the firearm, the person to whom it is transferred shall submit a report to the Department of Justice, in a manner prescribed by the department, that includes information concerning the individual taking possession of the firearm, how title was obtained and from whom, and a description of the firearm in question. The reports that individuals complete pursuant to this subdivision shall be made available to them in a format prescribed by the department.
    (4) Until January 1, 2015, the person taking title to the firearm shall first obtain a valid handgun safety certificate if the firearm is a handgun, and commencing January 1, 2015, a valid firearm safety certificate for any firearm, except that in the case of a handgun, a valid unexpired handgun safety certificate may be used.
    (5) The person receiving the firearm is 18 years of age or older.

Maybe not worry too much about making it an actual Christmas eve/day present and considering these are 18 year olds, I doubt they are still waking up early to see what Santa brought.

If the idea is a surprise for Christmas still remembering these are 18 year olds, then trying to cut it close with the dates could be problematical. Gets the guns whenever, hang onto them and then present them at the best date time. If it's something that can't be done so it all coincides on the certain day then stocking stuffers hinting at the big one might work.

Alternatively, nothing beats getting a gun as a present and being able to fire it. Get the guns, give them a barrel cleaning and once over. have some ammo ready and put everything away. On the day, take them to the range, everything is already in the car/truck but they don't know it. You get there and pass out the goodies and then they can spend some time shooting them. Have your video cam running.

Cleaning gear/some accessories as stocking stuffer and then if it takes a day or so after Christmas to get to the range they have anticipation. The giving at the range or wherever you'll shoot can play out really well, a memory far more enjoyable (perhaps) than just something under a tree.

        Just ideas.
Let Go of the Status Quo!

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

That will cut things tight as Christmas Eve is a major pick-up time and staff want to split. Also, some shops put an 11-day wait on the pick up, just to be sure. I'd recommend you have all purchases in system by Dec 10.

You can buy 3 Rugers for the price of one R-100.

If you're buying nine guns, great. But, if you're deciding who gets the Red, the White or the Blue, unless you absolutely, positively know what color each will want, get them all the same.

Final note, wherever you buy the guns, make sure you talk to the manager about coming back with the kids to take the FSC test. Some shops are refusing to administer the test if you aren't buying a gun, so make arrangements ahead of time.

            Thanks all.... Good ideas.

And the colors were just examples for my friends

The point was more about giving an American made gift that was Pro-2a.

Thank being said I will be doing it myself for 1 of mine.

I used to give away boxes of ammo for Christmas. Prop 63 ended that tradition here.
