    SB 61 - 1 in 30 - Handgun and Semiautomatic Shotgun

    Hi all,

Can't find a definite answer on this:

With the new law (SB 61) now in place, am I allowed to DROS:
    1) a handgun (revolver or semiautomatic) AND
    2) a semiautomatic shotgun (NOT a center-fire rifle)
within the same 30 day window?

I know that if #2) above is a semiautomatic center-fire rifle, then the new law applies, but what if it's a semiautomatic shotgun?

    Thanks in advance.

    The law says rifle.

    27535.

    (a) A person shall not make an application to purchase more than one handgun or semiautomatic centerfire rifle within any 30-day period. This subdivision does not authorize a person to make an application to purchase both a handgun and semiautomatic centerfire rifle within the same 30-day period.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Looking at the text, I agree.

A local FFL guy says the DOJ has been telling them it's not just rifle, it's "semi-automatic anything" that falls under the 1-in-30 requirement. Have you heard anything about this?

I'll also ask about this in the FFL area.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

It is cut and dry - centerfire rifle. Not shotgun. It would not be surprising that some pea brain from DOJ thinks it applies to shotguns, but it doesn't.

My local FFL just called the DOJ hotline, and they are denying semi-auto shotguns, not just centerfire semi-auto rifless under SB61. They've had DROS kicked back before, that's why I asked.
Is there someone to call to get their attention, and get it fixed?
          TIA

You should report this to Michel & Assoc, and CRPA so it is on their radar.

              Today at my FFL...

I visited my local FFL today and was also told by the owner that his DOJ L.A. County rep told him that semi-auto center fire anything applied to the 1 in 30 rule. I had a revolver and semi-auto shotgun ready to DROS. I punted on the shotgun and DROS'ed the revolver. Will do the shotgun in 30 days.
