OK, something just occurred to me.
WHEN EXACTLY are you required to have a Cal DOJ approved safe or locking device?
Is it just at the time of purchase when you pick up your firearm from your FFL?
Or... if you are storing the gun at home where there is a kid present, does your locking scheme need to be on the DOJ list as well?
I mean, I consider mine to be pretty well secured from my kid. Trigger or cable locks and then also locked inside a sturdy cabinet (but not a gun safe). But I checked and my trigger lock is NOT on the Cal DOJ list for some reason.
