I am not talking about the loan of large capacity magazines, but the rental of legal capacity magazines. Is a rental a type of loan?

You might just have the mags confiscated and told to go on your way. You might have your guns and mags confiscated with or without an arrest. If no arrest you will be told a report will be sent to the local DA and he will make a decision as what to do. Then you play the waiting game.

If nothing is charged then you have to go through the legal process to get your gun back and you have to fill out paperwork and if you are a CA resident have to go through a background check. I do not know how it works for a non-resident. Many times it costs more to get the gun back than what it is worth.

The mags will not be returned if you simply have the mag blocks in them with nothing else to make them permanent. If somebody can pop off the base plate and take out the mag block they will easily argue it was not permanent.

Then again, we have criminals bring guns and standard magazines into this state every day and not get caught. Then again, most of them have little to loose if they get caught.

It is the law abiding that have everything to lose, their jobs, their life savings and financial security to pay for an attorney, their freedom, and more.

So the question boils down to what is your freedom worth. Do you want to risk it by saving a few dollars buying mag blocks and not at least epoxying the base plates in so if you attempt to take them out they will be damaged or do you want to purchase some cheap insurance and buy a 3 or 4 10-round magazines and be certain that you will be legal when in CA.

You do have the option to sell the 10-round magazines or give them to somebody. After you return home, place an ad in the market place and sell them and recoup some of your money or keep them for the next time you have to travel to a restricted state. CA is not the only restricted state and with the Biden win there might be more restricted states in the future before SCOTUS has a chance to overturn any magazine limit laws.

I keep a few standard capacity magazines with friends out of state so I have access to them when I travel outside of CA for my CC guns.

Good grief. Well, is it worth it, living in CA, when you put up with all that bull**** to defend yourself and others from harm? It's pretty much a basic human right, self preservation and the right to defend yourself and others from violence.

As far as I can see, in CA the criminals, lawyers, politicians, and their dogs, the LEOs, are all participants in the same criminal organization, where perps are "victims" and victims are "perps."

That is why I am planning my exit. It will be between 6 months from now to no more than 18 months from now.

I have two CCW permits from out of state but cannot get one from my own county sheriff where I have lived for over 58 years. When I am out of state, most of the time I am safer and have less of a need to carry than when I am at home.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?
