I recently purchased one of the C&R M57s that Turners was selling. The gun had to be shipped from another Turners, and when I went to DROS it I expected to walk out with it the same day because I have an 03 FFL and COE. That didn't happen.
Turners would not let me cash and carry the gun because my COE was issued without any suffix appended to my name. I am a 2d, and my CDL, FFL and utility bills all identify me as such, but the COE does not. I did list the suffix on the original application (I checked my scanned copy), but it was not included on the certificate.
The manager at Turners stated that California has recently been cracking down on missing suffixes on documents related to firearms purchases and blamed the state for the problem. I transferred an SKS through Riflegear a couple of months ago and did not have this issue. IDK if that transaction occurred before or after the alleged crackdown.
I did not see anything on the DOJ site that pertains to this problem, and I am going to go ahead and call, but I was hoping that I am not the first person to run into this issue and someone can give me some advice on how to best resolve this.
Also, please do not turn the thread into a Turners bash fest. I know a lot of guys have had issues with them in the past, but I've bought a bunch of guns through them and this is the first time I've had any trouble at all.
Thanks.
