Moving back to CA. Couple of questions

I have been out of the loop on the new regulations.

    1) Am I allowed to bring a properly configured AR-15?

    2) I have a RAW from the original (first) assault weapons registration. Can I bring that back?

    Added

    3) Can I bring back an AOW that was registered as a handgun in CA before I left?

    1. Yes, as long as it is not make/model banned and not configured to meet CA's 2017 definition of an assault weapon.

    2. Yes.

    3. Yes, as long as it is configured to be CA legal.
^It can not meet CA's definition of an assault weapon, DD, or MG.

    Bonus...
    4. You can not bring any large capacity magazines or large capacity magazine parts kits to CA, even if you previously owned/possessed them in CA.

The exemption that allowed people who legally owned/possessed large capacity magazines in CA to go out-of-state with them and return to CA was removed.
^No longer in effect on 07-01-2017.
~The previous Court ordered injunction, regarding the recent changes to CA large capacity magazine laws, did not bring back this exemption.

So, once you leave CA with your legally owned large capacity magazines, you can not legally return with them.
^They need to be stored or disposed of while out-of-state or made into permanently modified 10 round magazines. Otherwise, it's felony importation of large capacity magazines.

      Thanks for the responses.

As far as #2 and #3 are concerned. Does it matter if I changed state residency? From CA to NV and when I get back to CA again.

My understanding CA will issue the same CA drivers license number that I had before.

        Nope.

A firearm that was registered as an assault weapon does not get de-registered, simply because the owner may have moved to another State and became a resident of that State.
^Unless, you specifically sent paperwork to CA DOJ requesting the firearm to be de-registered as an assault weapon.

There are no Federal notification requirements for moving a Title 2 AOW to another State.
CA just requires the Title 2 AOW to be configured to be CA legal, prior to entering CA, and it be registered via New Resident Report of Firearm Ownership, within 60 days of establishing residency in CA.

Thank you. I did not de-register it.
