    CFARS system STILL being modified?

Could be wrong, but it looks to me as if the DOJ is still modifying their application website as of last Wednesday. I was trying to explain some things and I saw this:

California Firearms Application Reporting System (CFARS) 2.1.0.0 (11/28/2018)

Maybe they're still adding manufacturers or calibers to the list? I suspect that my apps are held up due to a caliber issue.

My guess is that the whole thing has been outsourced to India.

IIRC it was built by some IT firm in Folsom, CA, so same thing really.

All I know is I'm trying to register, my account password doesn't work, my account is locked and there doesn't seem to be any help on or off line to unlock it. Tried everything including calling to no avail.

I made a account and did family transfers about 3 weeks ago. It's been 2.5 weeks since we the transfer was entered and I can still log in but all transfers are just showing in progress for the status.

I think it's every 90 days or so you're required to change your password. Forget to do so or the requisite information to get back in and you've got a monkey wrench that can really hurt you if you're under a deadline.

Moral of story -- keep records of EVERYTHING. If you don't know how to take screenshots ask and someone here will guide you through the process.

If you have a calendar it's a good idea to mark it with reminders of the date your password needs to be "refreshed."

I noticed my PW was expired and was able to put reset my PW with no issues.

I just clicked "forgot password" and answered the questions. They sent me a link which was in my spam folder. I copied and pasted it onto the address bar and it took me to a page to reset my password.

I've had my letter since May but I figure it's best to just keep my account from being locked.

After two successful BBAW registrations (confirmation letter received via snail mail), there was no need to go back into my CFARS account and my password expired. I figured since I had once before went through the process of changing a expired password it would be no big deal to change the password again if I needed to...

My COE was going to expire and I figured I would renew it through CFARS. I have always renewed the COE with the BOF 4008 paper form, fill it out and mailed the form and $22 check to CADOJ...

                    Long story short...

Trying to change my CFARS account password was a total failure. Tried on different PC's and would be blocked because as part of the password reset process the link CFARS emailed me did not work and without the link working there was no way to complete the process of changing my password. I gave up and once again used the BOF 4008 form, mailed and in 8 days I received my renewed COE...

Registering the two rifles as BBAW's was a maddening experience littered with site crashes, multiple resubmissions, compatibility issues, a laundry list of frustration. I am convinced they (CADOJ) set this site up deliberately to make it very difficult, but not impossible to navigate as a way to frustrate and discourage CA firearm owners into non compliance...

Did you try the link immediately after getting it? Mine wouldn't work like 3 minutes after I got it, but if I waited for the link to appear and went right into it, the link worked. Weird, but it seems the link is only good for like 2 minutes... I'm sure that isn't by design......wink.

After they emailed me the link, I tried to open link on my laptop, no worky. I booted up my desktop, and tried to open the link again, failure. I closed the tab, shut both PC's down and rebooted the desktop. I logged back into CFARS with the username they assigned me when I opened up the account and started the reset process again, same result...

Seems like I remember back when I was going through the BBAW process, I once logged into CFARS, a window popped up warning me that my password was going to expire and I needed to reset password. I do remember resetting my password without any issues...

Maybe I was timed out on the link, that would figure to be another little trap they set you up for to fail...

That is pretty much my story...they time it took to log in and get my link from them then try to login kept giving me link expired notifications...so I had everything up and waiting and went right to the link and login and it worked, for both me and my wife just last week, so maybe that's the trick.

There is no other status. It will never say anything else.
