Just to verify-what if you have a semiauto AR pistol that is NOT registered as an AW(fixed mag).

      In California of course.

      So you AOW it.

      New options available would be:

I can put a vertical foregrip on it.

There seems to be some consensus that a wrist brace is less risky on an AOW.

But even though federally it would be in an AOW-California would still consider it a pistol so it would have to remain fixed mag correct?

        Under CA laws...

A firearm that is a Title 2 AOW is exempt from CA SBR/SBS laws.
^Which is why having an arm stablizing brace on an AOW is 100% CA legal.

A firearm that is a Title 2 AOW is not exempt from CA assault weapons laws.
^Which is why they must be configured to comply with CA assault weapons laws or be registered as an assault weapon.
