    Weired “incomplete” problems

Early last month, I registered 5 guns with my wife. I used an account verification letter from SMUD, our local electric company. It has both of our names on it

Yesterday my wife received two emails saying the same thing

Proof of address must be provided for each joint registrant. You have only provided proof of address for the primary registrant. Please upload additional documentation verifying both the primary registrant and secondary registrant reside at the same address.

So I logged into her account to submit the letter again. But the weird thing is the letter is there already. The same letter we used 10 times for all 5 weapons.

Did the agent miss? He looked at it 8 times already.

I deleted that letter and uploaded a current bill.

Get ready for a no knock 2:30AM SWAT on your primary residence. You're screwed, and your dog's gonna die.

Weird. I would highlight or circle the names in the bill and send that in again. Put in the comments section to refer to the highlighted/circled names.

Is there possibility the name(s) are spelled slightly differently in the bill? Maybe a missing hyphen or space in your wife's married name? They can be sticklers to detail. Maybe "Lee-Majors" is not regarded the same as "Lee Majors".

Another strategy I would take is to add my wife's name to all the other utility bills, water, trash and send those in (scan as a multiple page PDF.) Does she have a car registered to her?

The problems you're having could be consistent with the anecdotal reports of CFARS issues. On one of the CFARS crashing threads behavior where information from different people were being comingled into the web view displayed.

It was speculated that CFARS has some sort of design flaw causing data to bleed Frome one users web session to another users session corrupting the data shown to the user. If the corrupted session data was persisted to the database or the corrupted sessions get reused it's possible the DOJ agent layer reviewing CFARS applications also may see inconsistent information due to the same issue.

This is of course speculation and all the information unconfirmed, however these sort of consistency problems are easy to create if the people who pieced cfars together didn't really understand session management in web applications and also did not perform adequate scaled up load tests on their system to discover these issues before inflicting CFARS upon us.
Unfortunately at this point in time there probably exists little appetite to correct issues like these since the boat has sailed and the people involved may even be ignorant to the possibility such defects exist and to admit they are there would cause financial or reputational losses.

Keep working on it. The only path is forward. Maybe the next time the DOJ agent review your application the stars and moons are all in proper alignment.

Lots of FUD here but since there's no transparency into the issue, that's what we got.

The data entry techs are likely loaded with work, not particular familiar with guns, or any one person's personal situation.

I was in a hurry and frustrated, and inadvertantly switched pics between two firearms. It might have been obvious to any one of us, but the person at DOJ was (understandably) confused. They were patient while I corrected my mistake and all did finally go through.

While this is an odious and offensive infringement on my and other law-abiding citizens' civil rights, imposed upon us by misguided legislative fools, the DOJ staffers have been at least as effective as any other web-based service in my experience.

My AW registration experience is still way better than dealing with AT&T or Citibank. No worse than dealing with the monolithic, inutile Toyota Customer Service.

Not a data leak/bleed issue as suggested a few posts up. Just another case of one of these DOJ employees/temps making a mistake. Proof Of Residency for joint applications seems to be a popular one for them to screw up, in one way or another.

Re-submit your application, point out in the comments that the document is for both registrants, and also "submit an issue" explaining that it appears that your application was erroneously marked as "incomplete", explaining the situation, and stating that you've resubmitted it.

Make sure the proof of residence for BOTH applicants are submitted in BOTH applications.

we registered 5 guns with the same letter from SMUD.

so the same letter was used 10 times.

only 2 of her 5 entries bounced back.

i dont know how the DOJ works, but how many times do i have to show the same letter to approve we live together?
