People who aren't tracking the registration laws but have bullet button AR15s?

There has to be tens of thousands of people who went into a Turner's and purchased a BB AR15 within the last 8years and who are not tracking the upcoming registration and state laws. Will all these people technically become felons???

    Yes.

    30600.

    (a) Any person who, within this state, manufactures or causes to be manufactured, distributes, transports, or imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives or lends any assault weapon or any .50 BMG rifle, except as provided by this chapter, is guilty of a felony, and upon conviction shall be punished by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 for four, six, or eight years.
Just taking an unregistered 'assault weapon' out for a drive is a felony.
    30605.

    (a) Any person who, within this state, possesses any assault weapon, except as provided in this chapter, shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail for a period not exceeding one year, or by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.
Possession is a 'wobbler', ordinarily charged as a felony.

...and probably they own other guns they will have to get rid of if prosecutors decide to press felony charges.

what did P.T. Barnum say about a fool and his money? How quickly they get separated and it is not just the loss of all of your guns and that expense but how about the lawyers? this state is going to be a mecca for lawyers and they are going to get paid for cases they know they are going to lose. Going to be tough to seat a jury anyplace because so many are going to be in jail. More money for a morally corrupt legal system and those that feed at it's trough

Well technically there were a bunch of felons created during the 2001 AWB 17 years ago. Will probably be a similar situation.

Anyone remember if anyone got charged after 2001 for failing to register?

A coworker mentioned his AR yesterday. I asked if he was registering it or making it compliant. I could tell by the blank stare he had no idea what I was talking about. I educated him and gave him a link to the registration tutorial here. He had no idea. He is not an avid gunner, only has a hand full of guns, and just goes to the range once or twice a year and keeps a 12ga in his bedroom. He is a salt of the earth kind of guy that would never intentionally break the law and if we had not had that conversation, he would have been in a potential felony type situation.

Seems to be that those happened when something brought the guns to the attention of LE.

Much the same is likely here, except from 2014 onwards, DROS data is saved on long gun purchases, so that could be matched against registered guns to generate A List.

And everyone who is not on Calguns 24/7 like some of us here will likely be in this exact same situation.

There has been absolutely no outreach by any .gov agency or even in the fake news media. Shet, C@G had to make us the splendid tutorial or even us 24/7s would be clueless.

if any hard working decent human being goes to jail over some twisted politician's desire to illegally violate the second amendment then the crime is on the politician and it is the politician who belongs in prison. But who is going to stand up to them and who in law enforcement would say get out of my county or enjoy my county's prison system and my friend bubba in cell block "C"?

Yep it is going to be bad. On this afternoons walkabout around the parking lot, I saw a colleague sitting in his car who I knew at one time had an AR.

I asked him do you still have your AR? Nods yes.
Do you know about the AR registration? Shakes no.

Best read the link I send you quick.

For all I know he may not even have a BB...

Being a ****ing retard is not an excuse.
But being an elite foosball player from another state is.

My only purchases since 2013 have been bare lowers. One of these is half built (I never put in mag release since I saw all this crap on the horizon). If I leave them bare lowers, do I need to do anything?

                          The rest will be featureless.

If anything, reminding me to look for jobs out of state again.

Bare lowers are just that. They are fine.
