    Selling/Shipping a Mag Locked AR

    Hi,

First time gun buyer, and have a question.

Old friend in San Diego has a mag-locked AR that I want to buy off of him. I live in Sacramento. What is the process of me basically buying his AR off of him?

Does he ship to my FFL? Or he have to do some things at his FFL, then ship? Or FFL ship to FFL?

    Thanks

Unless it has been made featureless or has a 'fixed mag' under the new definition, 'mag locked' centerfire semi-automatic rifles are 'assault weapons' and may not be transferred to any non-FFL inside CA.

Yes, it has a fixed mag that has to be removed via disassembly of the firearm action.

OK, then, under 2018 laws, it's 'just a rifle'.

Check with your local FFL on how they want it shipped to them. Some insist in receiving only from other FFLs, but that's their business practice, not law.
