    Ca. Compliant AR reg question

Bought a Ca compliant M&P AR prior to 1/17 with factory BB

Now classified as a AW requiring registration. Correct?

Is there any sanctioned mag lock i can use in order to not have to reg?

If i do have to register do i still need pics and all the residency stuff like the 80%?

I suppose i can remove the upper leave it in the safe until i move and still be legal?

    Thanks in advance.

The more i searched the more i became confused

No need to register if you maglock. There are plenty that have been discussed on the forums. Depends on your price range, what kind of functionality you want, and how you want to install it.

If you did register you'd need pics and proof of residency, yes.

Separating upper from lower would also make it legal.

Make it featureless, remove the bullet button and be done with it.

"Sanctioned" or approved by CA DOJ = no.

But, there are magazine locking devices that, when installed properly, meet the 2017 CA legal definition of a fixed magazine.
Which, can make the firearm no longer be considered an assault weapon.

          Yes.

If you disassemble the firearm into parts, then it will no longer meet the definition of an assault weapon and it does not neet to be registered as an assault weapon.
^It is prudent to store/transport those parts in seperate containers/locations.

The firearm can also be legally made into a featureless semi-auto centerfire rifle or a manually operated rifle or a rimfire rifle. All of which makes the firearm no longer meet the definition of an assault weapon and it does not neet to be registered as an assault weapon.
