WOW! It's finally done! My DOJ record is FINALLY correct after 17 years of showing a false felony conviction. I just opened the letter 10 minutes ago.
"Regarding your request to amend the arrest entry dated May 4, 2001, based on information received from the contributing agency this entry has been amended. An amended copy of your California state summary criminal history record is enclosed. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been notified to update your summary criminal history record so that it will match the criminal history record as maintained by the DOJ."
Just a quick refresher... I had the L.A. Superior Court electronically submit a corrected docket sheet on 2/13/18 and I mailed a BCIA 8706 (claim of alleged inaccuracy or incompleteness) on 2/15/18 with a certified copy of the corrected docket sheet after my C.O.E. application was denied on 2/1/18. After the denial I did another livescan and found that the court clerk accidentally recorded a felony conviction instead of a misdemeanor back in 2001. After submitting the BCIA 8706 I contacted my local state senator's office to enlist their help getting my record corrected. The correction process took 42 days from the time the court electronically sent the corrected records to the date of the DOJ amendment letter I just opened. During the process I emailed the DOJ 3 times asking for updates and the senator's office contacted them at least 3 times. The amendment letter is dated 3/27/18.
WOW, it feels really good. REALLY GOOD! I can't describe the feeling I just had when I read the letter.
I'm gonna head back to the livescan place now and apply for the C.O.E. again. All should be ok now. Thanks for the great advice and help some of you gave me when I posted my original thread about this. I appreciate it immensely.
One more note... The livescan I did AFTER my C.O.E. was denied was a firearms-specific livescan (BOF 8016RR). ajb78 responded to my original thread saying that one would most likely take a long time to process and then said I should do a regular livescan (BCIA 8016RR) because it would be faster. That tip from him proved invaluable! Thank you so much buddy! As stated in my original thread it was waaaaaay faster. I got a letter and copy of my record in 5 days!! Wanna hear something interesting? I just received the response from my firearms BOF 8016RR YESTERDAY! So yes, the personal record review livescan was way faster than the firearms one. I challenged it and got it corrected in the time it took to simply get a response on the firearms record review. Hope that info helps others.
Again thanks everyone. Justice prevailed. Today is a good day.
