    second "foreward hand grip"?

Pertaining to a handgun, what exactly is a "forward hand grip"? Does it have to be vertical to be a no no, or does horizontal count also, like on a UZI pattern weapon.

For a handgun it is anything that you can grasp to control the weapon. Even a rail/handguard on an AR pistol counts as a second hand grip.

Assuming this is with regards to a pistol AW registration? If so, then in most cases a barrel shroud and forward hand grip are the same thing - check both boxes. See the AW registration guide for more info.

In general, whether or not it's an AW registration, a vertical forward grip is illegal on a pistol. I believe that's a Federal law and that the only exception is if it's an NFA registered AOW "Any Other Weapon".

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

A "second handgrip" is any grip that can be utilized by the non-trigger hand.
This grip can be angled, horizontal, or vertical.

          Example...

Back in 2000, the Browning Buck Mark Silhouette was classified as an assault weapon due to it's "second handgrip" (horizontal forward grip).
