    RaddLock

I've heard that when you register your AR as an assault weapon you are no longer allowed to change the magazine release mechanism.

If you register an AR with a RaddLock would you be allowed to keep the same mechanism but turn the screw so it works like a standard magazine release?

I have a raddlock on a registered AR. According to the penal code, I think I ought to be able to turn the screw, but I won't because it seems like a very gray area with the wording of the regs... I'd rather not be the test case...

CADOJ will most possibly consider that as the mag release device change, since it will no longer work as a bullet-button device. The legality of their regulations are very questionable, pending the court hearing

You're not allowed to be in possession of an unregistered assault weapon. The DoJ, in their regs, essentially tilted their hand as to how they would go about trying to prosecute someone for changing their magazine release, if they elected to do so (i.e. they will argue that the weapon you possess is not the one you registered.)

The prospect of someone from the DAs office standing in a courtroom trying to convince a jury that a loosened raddlock results in a completely distinct gun from what is photographed and on file with the DoJ would be more amusing if the Jury weren't all Californians.

I know we all hate Troy but why not change just a mag catch and leave the bullet button?

If you treat the "regulations" as the law, then you can't turn the screw...

            Any
alteration to the release mechanism converts the assault weapon into a different weapon
from the one that was registered.
The question remains as to what exactly they would charge you with. A RAW is RAW.

This is why I ought to be able to take off my BB, since P.C. says no AW charges for RAW, and RAW = RAW.

But my guess is DOJ will just charge one with p.c. violations anyway, then try and say "we revoke your RAW registration" after the fact, or something along those lines. Like I said, I don't want to be the test case.

Any alteration to the release mechanism converts the assault weapon into a different weapon from the one that was registered.
Darn! I was thinking of painting by BB a different color. Guess that's out...

If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

What if you fold a piece of paper looped around the mag catch inside the magazine well?
