    HOWA Barreled Action Illegal?

I am trying to purchase a HOWA Barreled Action. 6.5 Creedmore with a 24" barrel (not threaded). Is it the Company Policy of Brownell's or Cheaper Than Dirt that they won't sell to California or is there something in the law books that do not allow me to make this purchase?
    Thank you.

As far as I know, it's perfectly legal. CTD and Brownells, along with many other bigger stores, have a bad history of "taking the easy way out" with CA, and they just don't deal in anything that could take more than 2 seconds to verify legality in CA.

      It's the vendor's company policy.

There are no CA laws that restricts/prohibits a 6.5x48mm Creedmoor barreled receiver from being shipped to a CA FFL dealer.

Therefore, an out-of-state vendor refusing to ship it to a CA FFL dealer is because of their policy.

      AFAIK...
Brownells = Because the receiver is a Title 1 Other firearm, they will not ship it directly to you. They will ship it to a CA FFL dealer, once you select that option and input your CA FFL dealer's info.
Cheapter Than Dirt = They are an anti-CA vendor and it is there policy to not ship anything they think is illegal to CA. This includes all firearms and any firearm part/accessory that may be used on an assault weapon.

OK, thank you. Now, anyone know of a gun industry warehouse that will sell a receiver or barreled receiver to a lonely guy like me in California?
        Thanks for the help.

I don't believe anyone will send it directly to you. Federal law dictates that all laws of the state of the buyer must be followed, so in Ca it has to go through an FFL dealer, 10 day wait just like buying local.

Check your local dealer's they may be able to order exactly what you want.

Some company will not sell threaded barrel to CA, include rifle length.: shrug: . Its dumb policy.

              Ship to My FFL

I would like to purchase a non-threaded assembled barreled receiver.
If the barrel is 22-24 inches long and it is not threaded and has a bolt action I don't see any legal problems in this darn state.
The question is, who will sell to me via an FFL?
              Thanks

                Shouldn't you be asking FFLs?

As long as you have an FFL who will receive it, most vendors will have no trouble with selling you a bolt action barreled receiver even if you're a CA buyer.

                    Good idea TKM.
I called Brownells', I asked if they would sell/ship to my FFL a specific stock number. After checking with their FFL dept. I was told yes, they will ship.
When you use the little tool to check "ship OK?" where you put in your zip code, every thing I tried to purchase came up, "NO". I added my Mom's Arizona zip code and, "YES" came up.
Does anyone know if that will include a threaded barrel?
I would like to add a muzzle break.
Thank you very much for the comments.

Threaded barrel on a rifle is ok - handgun is a no. Bolt action has no restrictions. Anything smaller that 50BMG is ok. Shop on Gunbroker.

Don't give any business to Cheaper than Dirt . . . they are a bunch of anti-CA hacks. Their BS is legendary.
