    mag capacity on imported shotgun

    Hi fellow Calgunners,

I have a two part question.

1.) Does the restriction on mag capacity 5+1 for imported shotguns apply to ALL shotguns, semiauto shotguns with fixed tube magazine or semiauto shotguns with "evil features" such as pistol grip, flash hider, folding, removable magazine or collaspible stocks?

2.) If it just applies to semiauto shot guns with "evil features" am I allowed to buy a "non-evil features" semi auto shotgun with a tubular magazine, cut down the barrel to 18.5" AND then add a magazine extension to increase capacity?

    Thank you
    Ray

What you're referring to is actually a federal law called 922(r). I won't pretend to know enough about it to give you advice but if you want to search Google at least now you know what to search for.

As for your second question, no. You typically need to replace some of the parts in the gun with US-made parts before legally expanding the capacity. However, I know at least for Benelli there are now replacement tubes so instead of just extending the tube it replaces the whole thing and that counts towards your US-made parts.
