    AW Registration Question

    Hi All,

I left the state in Sept. of 2017 and am curious.

Do I need to notify the state that myself, as well as all my posessions (including AR-15's) have left the state as well?

My new state does not require any notificayion of me bring in firearms as they are not illegal nor require registration.

My concern is CA will still think I have AR15's in CA.

Any legal info I can reference regarding the law and state notification?

    Thanks,

    CnB

Why not send them a certified registered letter with signature required for receipt. In the letter tell them you have moved these listed weapons out of California but be aware when you do that the weapons cannot come back unless they meet whatever new list they come up for legal guns. If you take them out and say nothing and bring them back unless california can prove you took them out by records someplace then you should be able to bring them back in the future. Not legal advice but ?

A lot of people still have AR15s here and will not be registering them, without any worry, because they will be converted to featureless or new rule fixed mag. Here or not here, there is no reason to send CA anything merely because you have AR rifles. The only reason anyone here will send them anything is if they want to keep a featured rifle with bullet button mag release.

Thank you for the quick replies.

That makes sense as had I stayed in CA, featureless was next option.

To clarify, for those residents still in CA - you can privately convert to featureless rifle and no supportive documentation need be send to CA?

IE - you can do in own home, not send any info to CA and go about your day?

No, you do not need to notify them. Cal. Pen. Code section 28000. There is a voluntary form if want to notify them but why would you want to?
