    CA AW registration

So if a person had registered their AR style AW prior to Dec31 2000 deadline with the CA DOJ. Is it required to to do so again with the new ban/registration?

    Short answer...

    No.

    Long answer...

No, because it's not eligible to registered during this current assault weapons registration window. So, any attempt to re-register it will be rejected.

In order to be eligible for registration during this current assault weapons registration window, the semi-auto firearm needs to have restricted features with a "bullet button" style magazine lock and needed to be lawfully acquired/possessed from 2001-2016. [PC 30900(b)(1) & 11 CCR 5470]
If the firearm had to be registered under the previous assault weapons bans, then it will not be registered. [11 CCR 5472(b)]
    Therefore...
Since a current RAW does not have a "bullet button" style magazine lock, it will not be registered under the current assault weapons registration window because it lacks one of the features that is required for eligibilty for registration.
Since a current RAW was registered under the previous assault weapons bans, it will not be registered under the current assault weapons registration window because it was registered under the previous assault weapons periods.
