Is trade considered a sale according to DOJ? We can do 5 PPT's per calendar year, does it include the times when You trade for another gun? In general, do they (ATF, DOJ, etc) view trades in the same way as sales?

Yes.
DOJ does not see the money change hands.
They see DROS.
5 DROS is the handgun limit (not long gun), but multiple guns can be sold/traded on one DROS.Last edited by Garv; 05-28-2017, 11:24 PM.Originally posted by Kestryll:

You can do 5 handgun TRANSACTIONS (out of your possession)... not "sales"
Long gun transactions are "infrequent and irregular"
Purchases are limited only by your wallet (or 1-every-30 for dealer transfers (of handguns, for now))

There is a "seller" and a "buyer" on the form.
You can be the seller 5 times for handguns.
No limit for the buyer. (Yet)
Apparently many here exceed the limit and enforcement is not a priority. (Yet)Last edited by Garv; 05-29-2017, 12:13 AM.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Only for transfers OUT of your possession. You can acquire as many as you want. But you can dispose of handguns in only 5 transactions per calendar year before you are violating a law.
And trade or sale makes no difference, it is still a transfer out of your possession.Comment
