    Ak74 kit into CA

I've been looking into getting an AK74 kit for the past week and I was wondering how the process plays out. It's a Bulgarian Ak74 and it comes with parts, barrel and a magazine. I'm afraid of having legal/shipping issues with getting the kit into Cali. It's a semi-auto with the wood furniture (no tactical stuff at all). Should it be fine or will I have to get it CA compliant before assembling it

No go, unless featureless. It has to be featureless before it comes into CA (converted out-of-state).

    Mag has to be 10rds.

You would have to assemble it as California compliant.

You can purchase any parts kits of any type. All that matters is that you assemble per California's new laws. On the AK-74, all you'd have to do is put on a kydex wrap on the pistol grip, maybe change the muzzle attachment as I'm not too sure if it's considered a flash hider. Also make sure the stock is fixed. Finally make sure the magazine is riveted to only hold max 10 rounds.

He's trying to purchase a kit, not a fully assembled rifle.

Kits are perfectly legal. Its It's not a firearm. The high capacity mag...not so much.

            Make sure it's a 10 rounder

So a kit can be brought into the state, and then take it to a smith to pin the magazine, assemble and enjoy? Of course after the paperwork and legal stuff

I believe the mag will have to be pinned before it can come into California. Can you purchase the kit without the magazine?

The magazine needs to be permanently altered to 10 rounds before it enters CA.

It's illegal to import a large capacity magazine [PC 32310(a)] and to import magazine parts that can be used to make a large capacity magazine [PC 32311].

Acquiring the rifle or the kit. Is it going out to a builder?
