I'm looking at purchasing a PSA AR47 receiver to build into a rifle.

Do we know how AKs are effected by the legal change in 2017?
Does there need to be a magLock redesign before bullet buttoned AKs are legal, or do they all need to be featureless?

In one of the other sections on calguns someone made a thread about a new mag lock for the AK that complies with the coming laws. Not sure if its in production just yet but its coming. So yeah, you'll need a new device.

Then of course there is featureless and registration.

Are you asking about an AR47 (what you say) or an AK47?

PSA has said (in their forum here) that they won't sell their AKs to California.


Your options (if obeying the law and keeping the gun, in California) are:
1) Register it
2) Fixed magazine
3) Featureless

If you do any one of those, you don't need to do the other ones. Featureless by itself is enough.
