First post here, used this resource for a while for other gun related topics but finally registered to pose a question to the users of this community for their comments. I'm not sure if this post is more appropriate on this board or the
"California 2nd Amend. Political Discussion & Activism" board. I'll let the admin decide.
I recently placed an order for 4 boxes of ammunition from Natchez Shooters Supplies online and they arrived today. Unfortunately they messed up on the order for both boxes. I ordered waterfowl rounds which clearly show the round in the picture as #B shot and instead I was shipped #4. The other box came in size BB when I had selected BBB.
Once I discovered the error I went back to Natchez's website to try to repeat the order with the same product item links to see how the error developed from add to cart to checkout. It looks like the item code changed for the one item but the other item stayed the same through checkout.
Leading further to the premises surrounding my question, when I tried to complete checkout by entering my zipcode (in Yolo County) it prevented me from completing the order. I was surprised since just last week I ordered the ammo and received it today only for an error to show up when trying to reorder. I searched around on their website and found the following:
Restricted Items by Area of Residence (Non-International)
Due to individual municipal or state laws, we may not be able to sell or ship some items to your area. Ultimately it is the customers responsibility to be aware of their federal, state and local laws.
Such restrictions may include, but are by no means limited to, the following examples:
Ammo: NY, CT, DC, HI, MA, IL* (see note below), NJ, Sacramento, CA, Berkley, CA, Carson, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Oakland, CA, Sacramento, CA, San Francisco, CA, Santa Clara, CA, Marin Co. CA, Napa Co. CA, Ventura Co. CA, Yolo Co. CA
I called Natchez to try to resolve the order mistakes and they have filed it with customer service (I should get a call back tomorrow). Researching further on their website it says:
Please be aware we do not accept returns on ammunition, under garments, or used merchandise.
The rep I had talked to mentioned nothing about this policy.
I would simply like return my two boxes of ammo and receive a credit. Now getting to my question - is there a law on the books that prevents shipment of ammo to Yolo County or is this just a company policy? If there is a law - how and who enforces it and who is at fault (the seller or the buyer) if the law is violated?
I don't want to go to war with Natchez - I simply want credit back on my two items (I'm even willing to pay shipping back) but if they are not willing to let me return the 100 bucks worth of incorrect items (and its legal for me to ship them back to Tennessee) I would like to know if the law is on my side as bargaining power. I'm hoping to resolve this without opening a can of worms.
Thanks for the comments in advance!
