What do when you no longer possess a lower receiver

Not sure if this is the right section but here it goes. Last month I purchased a lower/upper receiver set, had it dros'd, waited 10 days, and took possession of the of the receivers. While building the rifle, I noticed a defect and the manufacturer agreed to take the receivers back and rebuild my rifle for me as a "manufacturer repair". Today, I got contacted by them and was informed they will have to supply me a new lower with a different serial number. Question is, what steps are needed in a scenario such as this with my dros information still on file regarding next years RAW process? Do I need to do anything to declare that I do not own the original receiver anymore? I was originally told I can have the rifle shipped back to my home address but is this still the case with different serialized rifle? Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

No. the new lower will have to go thru an FFL.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

New lower will have to be sent to FFL and you DROs it again. It can't be shipped to your house since it's a new gun. No worries on telling anyone you don't have the old lower anymore.

Thanks guys, I'll have to get manufacture to pay for the associated fees and wait out the 10 days.

I have had a repair/replacement and the manufacturer filled out a form with atf / ffl and shipped it directly back to me. Ask them

Did the repair require a serial number change?

                YES
a replacement barreled action with a new serial number. it's has been a couple of years however, but this happens all the time where a person sends a defective firearm back to the manufacture and they replace it with a new one.
unless the company you are dealing with is not "the" manufacture???

They are the manufacture, I'm not sure if they're aware but they just told me they would ship to my FFL and cover all transfer fees.
