That'll be the new requirement down the road.

The lawmakers will insist that the ammo manufacturer stamp a date on ammo before being allowed to sell it in California.

      Look guys,

Nobody is going to stop you at the border and check your ammo.

The whole point of these laws is to kill shooting as a sport....slowly but surely.

99% of people will either stop buying ammo altogether due to the hassle or they will buy less (due to increased prices, controls, bureacracy).

In time...that will kill the love of this sport. People will be less likely to take their kids, etc...

      That's the idea behind it.

So nobody is going to care if you're willing to drive 500 miles to pick up some cases but in like 20 years....you'll see that the whole sport has completely died out because who would be willing to go to that extreme (and for how long)...

I thought only the federal government could regulate interstate commerce. What if California passed a law saying you could not buy electronics or computers from another state? Or you could not buy anything from Texas. The entire law seems unconstitutional because it infringes on the rights of businesses in other states to compete in California.

Not so fast! Making something more difficult to do makes it more attractive. Our Scouts are more excited about shooting now than ever before.

So much for the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)....

                  The law doesn't do that.

So I take my box of ammo with a cali stamp on it and refill it in NV toss box in a can and drive back.

Prove to me I didn't hand load it.

I see a possession law in the furure.
MAY not carry more than one round.
Round my be carried in a locked box.
Round must be carried in the front left shirt pocket

Each round will have a stamp. 20 States are in the process of considering or passing the law.

I can easily see microstamps that begin with the letters corresponding to the State in which they can be bought / sold / possessed.

Not sure they care whether it's hand loaded or not. The point is being able to trace who last purchased the ammo.

Of course all the existing ammo that isn't microstamped will be around for decades unless they make it illegal to own such ammo....

Too many cooks in the kitchen comes to mind. You don't need to be a rocket scientist, but you need to pay attention unless squib and hot loads add splice to your life.

That sounds to me like a recipe for disaster. Reloading needs to be done with zero interruptions, imo. I'll reload with a neighbor or bil but that's about it. I can see half a dozen people sitting around a bench shooting the sheet...somebody picks up a can of Bullseye when he should have grabbed H110 for a heavy magnum load.

Not a matter of if, but when.
