It can't. A SBR has a shoulder stock, a handgun does not. Pretty simple. Attach a shoulder stock to a handgun and you have created a SBR, illegal unless you have a NFA stamp and in CA a DWP.

OK, the jist of a lot of the posters is to just build it.

And dont tell anyone about it. And dont sell it.

A home made AR pistol naturally begins life as a break action single shot firearm before becoming semi automatic. Therefore exempt from the unsafe gun law roster.

And as long as it does not have a detachable magazine, which it wont, its not an "assault weapon" in California. And no front grip, etc.

I learn by asking questions. Especially when the reading material is contradictory. Its not argumentative, just asking for clarification on ambiguous words and statements.

The title of this forum is, "How do California gun laws affect me?". Phrased in the form of a question. To clarify for you, I am using that title to frame the nature of my posts. Not to argue with you.

Additionally, on other message boards it is usually against netiquitte to necro bump threads. Usually the posters, that one replies to are no longer members, posters or readers of those boards. And necro posting generally pisses of the remaining active members.

Handgun is a term for a firearm held in the hands and no stock....

Pistol is a semi automatic magazine fed handgun

Revolver is a cylinder fed handgun

So, following the california handgun flowchart.

A homemade AR, from an 80%(or less) lower, as.a pistol drops out as legal at step 11.

Unless it has a detachable magazine, which makes it a so called assault weapon. Or if there is a fixed magazine greater than 10 rounds, which makes it a so called assault weapon.

Reply states that a firearm with a barrel less than 16" is a handgun.

My comment about it being easy related to your inability to get Google to work. So, I presented a representative sampling of a search. And you stopped at the first link? (Which provides solid information you've ignored.)

So, a handgun cannot be a SBR unless it is redesigned or remade so as to be intended to be fired from the shoulder.

If you picked up on any tone, I did not mean that you or any other poster in this thread were an idiot. I didn't think you would take it personally, just like the comment about using search, that I was lazy and stupid for not using them; I didn't take personally. They are broke and don't work, that's the responsibility of the message board software writers and the webmaster, nothing going to do with me.

There is no logic to the legislation, and no order.

Its not going to make a difference anyway if the present bills become laws. Everything semi auto will be an assault weapon.

Im just going to buy 50 or 100 80% lowers, that way when they take them in the future, I'll have replacements. Might save money and get the GG CNC machine, its only 1500. I could route them out like Spikes lowers, totally custom.

But it was from 2014. That's why i didnt bother with the other two.

Besides, any "cop" that questions me, in the future, probably wont know all the laws regarding the topic anyway...he or she will most likely default to they are all illegal. And let the judge sort it out.

The Sig MCX needs 4 things done to make it CA compliant.

PM me if you want to know how to do those 4 things.

If you put the upper on your existing AR lower, that solves all 4 issues, btw.
