If the parts are shipped separately you may also be breaking the law. No one knows.

The law is intentionally squishy so DA's have more leeway. Most Cal gun laws are written that way, for good reason.

There's also the issue of pistol magazines, where many are crimped to block the capacity to 10 rounds. These use the exact same springs as the standard capacity (or "Large Capacity" as we're supposed to call them in CA) magazines.

It's a stupid law, written and supported by ignorant people.

If you and your clever relatives do your thing and you end up with a standard cap mag you didn't have before you went to your mail box I'd say you've broken the law.

If you've just repaired a broken mag then I'd say no, you haven't broken the law.

Your brother, not residing within the Great State of California, may do whatsoever he pleases to do. You, however, as a resident of the state, may be scrutinized as receiving an illegal LCM conversion kit (we just don't know).

If you are scrutinized, and prosecuted (or not prosecuted), we shall become better informed.

But, discussing the concept on an open forum seems injudicious.

              Best.

All up to the discretions of the local DA. Did he get turned down by his wife last night? Hates the look of your face or your haircut? Do you look too poor to hire an A-One attorney and he thinks he can get a jury to convict you?

Does this hypothetical DA think that your post on this forum is evidence of planning a crime or conspiracy?

Internet forums are open to the public, including Law Enforcement. And the internet is forever, and searchable by computer, millions of words in a few seconds, juries are often impressed by "computer evidence." Big Brother actually is watching.

These questions are all impossible to answer with assurance. No one really knows.

Keep your mouth shut and your head down.

I have to jump in on this one. A conversion kit or a part of the conversion kit is supposed to CONVERT CA legal magazine into a hi cap magazine. So if You purchase a G17 which will come with 2 ten round magazines , can You convert it to a hi cap magazine if You had the spring and the follower ? If the answer is NO , You are in compliance with the law. This is how I see it. I routinely order magazine springs to maintain by duty/off duty and competition magazines. I can't use them to CONVERT a ten round magazine into a 15 round magazine.
