Can you buy a long gun online, for example Gunbroker.com and have it sent to a free state to have said long gun CA legal? Of course the receiving party in the free state can legally own the long gun.

Online Purchases?
***PSA: Don't be that guy and post "Contact me, I'm interested". Dummy, YOU'RE the one who's interested. YOU contact the seller!

You mean you are a CA resident, have a non CA friendly long gun you want to buy but cannot, so you want to buy it and send it to someone in another state, then you want to try to acquire it? So, you mean a "straw purchase"? Uhhh.. no.
Your question is worded a little oddly so not sure if this is what you mean.10 +1 in the chamber -
Are there any long guns that can be converted to CA legal if not already so?
Are we talking detachable mags?
Welding on an extension?
What?
And if one of those; Can't you have a CA dealer do it?
I think you need to disclose what you are actually asking.Comment

Didn't seem too hard for me to understand the question.
Contact this guy Audiophil2. He seems willing to convert it into a CA legal configuration, then ship it to your local FFL.
He has a great reputation as well.

There are a couple of CA friendly FFL's in Arizona that (for a fee) can accept a purchase and then take off the evil features, add bullet button, block mags etc. then send to your CA FFL for transfer to you if that is what you mean.
You can PM

or I just read that EBR Works moved to AZ

It's not how it reads to me. No mention of modifying the weapon to be CA compliant. So, not that hard to assume from what he wrote that he wants to try acquire the rifle "as is" from an online retailer, ship it to another state to someone he knows, and bring it in as his. Not have it modified to be CA friendly and then brought in.10 +1 in the chamberComment

it's all good Man. For a second you got me overthinking about the straw purchase aspect..I was thinking them Kali lawmakers sneaked one on us againIt's not how it reads to me. .OP did mention to be made California legal by the way.Last edited by Best sale; 09-22-2015, 4:21 PM.sigpicComment

What you need is called a middle man FFL to receive the firearm and add CA compliance devices or otherwise make it legal for regular CA residents to own. That FFL then sends it to your local FFL for the actual transfer. You should be able to search on the topic here for suggestions on who to use or what your next step is.Comment

Kind of..
"have it sent to a free state to have said long gun CA legal" is not "have it sent to a free state to have said long gun made CA legal". Maybe people assumed that, but that is why - along with some of the other wording - I said it did not seem clear what exactly was being asked IMHO.
Anyway, always tough when the responders of a thread spend more time and precision trying to answer than the OP does asking.

Ok, I could've had worded my post better. Let's say I buy a "evil" rifle from Gunbroker.com, have it sent to a free state to be modified as a CA compliant rifle, and then have it shipped from that state's FFL to my FFL in CA after said rifle is CA compliant. Is that legal?***PSA: Don't be that guy and post "Contact me, I'm interested". Dummy, YOU'RE the one who's interested. YOU contact the seller!

(as per above - just need to find that savvy FFL that will receive it for you and modify it)10 +1 in the chamberComment

As glock_this posts, yes, that procedure is legal. Other posts have suggested known FFLs who provide that service.Ok, I could've had worded my post better.

Simpl;e answer as long as it goes to ffl here and legal dros/transfer is accomplished. Have the long gun sent to ffl out off state have rendered ca legal. No handgun off roster can have this process completed. No buddy can buy it and come here and sell to you as ppt. He must be ca legal resident for off roster. If he is a ca resident and buys it and brings it in and you get away with it then couple felonies are incurred . Least of which is conspiracy.Comment
