Potential DROS problem

Going to ppt a handgun from a friend. She's pretty sure it was transferred to her from her deceased grandparent (but that was over 10 years ago so she's not sure). If she's wrong how is this going to affect the DROS? Will it affect? If the transfer doesn't happen, what would happen to the gun?

Unless it comes up stolen, should be no problem.

Because many guns are not known to the state, and that's a legal condition, the seller's ownership of a gun is not checked.

Librarian on the money again. THOUSANDS of firearms out there not accounted for, UNTIL we DROS it. Then it is in the states radar, which is what they want!

Once you register, you are related to that firearm forever, your name is just further back in their file.

I said the same thing in many of my posts.

If a handgun falls from the sky and You pick it up , unless it was reported lost or stolen , You can walk straight to the nearest FFL and PPT it to anyone who can buy a gun.

PS. Please dont start with the "finding a handgun " part, I use extreme example to make a point.
