Loaded mags transportation in CA? Did something change??

Did something change in the last few months??? ........

Went into TargetMasters in Milpitas and was told by one of the personnel there that in our area, it is now illegal to transport loaded magazines even thought they are NOT in the magwell. She claims that its to protect the cops because it makes it too easy to load.

She stated it was a new law.

I didn't contradict her. I just acknowledged and nodded and told her it was news to me and looked at a few other things and left.

Valid or not? I read WikiCalguns and from my knowledge, it is still legal to transport with loaded magazines so long as it is not in the magwell or cylinder if it is a wheel gun.

Should have asked her to show you the law and stop letting people off the hook. Even if she was honest and thought is was true. She can then be on our side...

Used to do the same when a RO would say something to me. It is FUD pure and simple. I usually just say "oh OK" and move on. LGS and ranges are notorious fudsters.

One visit was enough for me to never return again.

Urge her to contact the CHP about this new change so they can update the transportation info on their FAQs page.

No, no new law. Targetmaster's person was simply wrong.

Remember, with just a few rare exceptions, CA laws go into effect in January following being passed in the previous September. Talking about 'some new law' after February is a good 'tell' that the speaker does not know what he/she is talking about.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
