I have been, and continue to be a supporter of LE. That doesn't mean I am a blind supporter of any and all LEOs "no matter what".

When LEOs do good things, I post about them. When LEOs do bad things, or LEAs choose bad policies, I comment about that, too. That doesn't mean I'm "anti-LEO", it means I'm awake, and am able to be impartial.

I am a gun owner. That doesn't mean I will defend the actions of anyone who picks up a gun. As a gun owner, I am opposed to those who murder other people - whether they use a gun or some other weapon. I don't blindly say "Oh, he used a gun to kill those people... he must be innocent" I also don't say "He shouldn't be investigated by the authorities unless the NRA okays it first". I want him to get a fair trial, and then face the consequences. When a pro2A celebrity like Ted Nugent says something involving gun that people get upset about, I don't blindly rush to his defense. I look at what he said and decide for myself whether I agree with it. If I don't agree with what he said, I am not afraid to say so. For example, he recently said something that was just horrible and that sounded stupid. I'm not afraid that I'll get kicked out of the NRA or anything like that, just because I am willing to call out another NRA member when they say something dumb.

I am a teacher, and speak out whenever I can about the problems with the CTA's positions on political issues unrelated to education. I try to make my voice heard within my local union, and try to get changes made in the way the CTA behaves politically, even when doing so may hurt my career. I know that the CTA will support bills and candidates that I abhor. I certainly don't try to pretend that most teachers are pro 2A.

Something is seriously wrong with your friend because there are departments screaming for people. My neighbor's kid is a dumbass 22 year old Xbox aficionado and he got on with San Diego.

So none here cares to even consider my suggestion? Network within your community, put out feelers, gin up support. If you get cops standing up countering the lackey union/association talking heads people would have the other side of cops to point to. It wouldn't be a cure all for peoples perceptions but you'll know you are doing a greater part.

My next door neighbor kid has been trying to get in for 3+ yrs after getting his BS degree in criminology on a sports scholarship. Good guy, applied to many agencies, gets so far in the process then gets put on hold. If i just went by our 2 examples, it doesn't look very good for cops in general. Just saying.....

Yeah and most still arent going to hire anyone that walks into the PD dpt. Only exception i could find was Monterey Park PD(my town). They are in need of Asian officers.

It is definitely easier to get hired if you are a minority. When I tested with LAPD I got through the entire process, and was told "We Are Not Hiring White Males Right Now". I scored in the top 1% of the candidate pool, and was placed on the hiring list but was put on hold.

I got a call from LAPD 6 months later with a job offer, but I had already been picked up by another department. The department that picked me up hired 7 people with more than 1400 applicants in the pool I was hired in. Getting hired is not an easy task, especially if you are a white male.

Yeah haha I feel sorry for the White folks in this area sometimes. People dont think White folks bring diversity cept we got so many other minorities they are the only group that bring diversity.
However I do understand the hiring practices of some PDs. Like my town is 70% Asian but the PD is still overwhelmingly White.

Granted, the majority of LEOs are 2a supporters yet those they elect to represent them support others who fight against not only our 2a rights, they do not share the same principles, morals, or beliefs. So for selfish reasons (pay, benefits, etc) they support those who support those who go against the majority of their ideals.
As has been proven by history, any further restrictions on 2a will not affect LEOs, so it is easy for others to perceive the, "I got mine" mentality.
Supposed our Founding Fathers were bought off by England, where would we be.
What it boils down to is this, some people are willing to go against their beliefs for certain rewards. In this case LEOs have less to lose than many of us.
What ever happened to sacrifice for the ideals this country was based on? Instead we have,
To h*ll with your beliefs and rights, I want my salary and benefits. You may not think that way, but that is exactly what you are supporting. It is that hypocrisy that has people upset.
