I was floored. Perhaps because I didn't have high expectations. My wife is ecstatic.
First, Rudy was classic. Red meat and lots of it. Great intro for Palin.
She used humor and wit to not only defend her bio, but to challenge the opposition. Anderson Cooper said it was like she had the ability to stick a knife in her opponent, twist it, yet with her smile and twinkle, they not even realize they've been stuck.
I stayed with CNN because they are the only cable news channel we get in HD (yeah, I know, I'm shallow) and their team was blown away. "Out of the park" and "historic achievement" were their words.
After the rabid personal attacks from the left and from the media these last few days, she did what she had to do to demonstrate that she will not be victimized or allow her family to be attacked with impunity. She demonstrated that she is not only intelligent, but has the poise and grace to step onto the national stage and take control. She verified all of the fear and worry I have read from the left. They fear her, and now they have good reason.
She hit hard on the experience charge, the small town insults, her reformer record, energy policy and the media's agenda. She pulled no punches, yet did so in a feminine way.
The pundits are now questioning if her speech has usurped McCain, since he is not expected to equal her performance. She has stolen the stage.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Obama ditch Biden and recruit Hillary. He may need her.
Only other thing I'll say now is that if anyone missed it, make the time to watch it. Best political hour you can spend.
