I put out some feelers for the 53rd district upcoming election on 2A and Gun Rights, here are the responses I have received:
(D) Susan Davis (Incumbent) - Typical, she supports the 2nd amendment but believes we need to have reasonable laws for public safety
(R) Joel Marchese - "It was great talking with you on the phone. I hope I can earn your support in the coming weeks. Our nation is at a crossroads, and the time for action is running out. My vision for San Diego and our country includes protecting our Bill of Rights, our Constitution, and the quality of life for all Americans!" He said on the phone that he has had pistols in the past and supports the 2nd as is without interpretation.
(R) Jim Stieringer - "I consider the 2nd amendment to be completely unambiguous and that it means that the right to keep and near arms cannot be abridged. I am a Life Member of NRA, a membership I paid about 30 years ago.
I'm pleased that the courts have begun issuing a series of decisions that supports my understanding of the constitution."
(R) Larry Wilske - "To me this is simple: I believe the 2nd Amendment as written is all the gun permit I need. As a Veteran I've sworn my life to uphold and defend the constitution. The 10th Amendment pendulum swings both ways and in this instance States do not have the right to undermine the 2nd Amendment period."
So if we can just get one of these guys elected we could get part of Socal back. District 52 is also ripe for turnover.
