The new long gun registry.... they already know you have guns or could easily figure it out without the registry.

have you ever bought a handgun?
did you ever pay for ammunition or a gun with your credit card
did you ever fill out a Federal Form 4473
have you ever posted questions about buying guns on a public internet forum
have you ever sent emails across the public internet about owning or buying guns
    have you ever.....

the idea of anonymous gun ownership....pretty much a pipe dream for most. it darn near impossible to be an "off grid" gun owner even without dros style registration.

The point is they don't have the time to "figure out" you have guns. They want an instantly checkable data base in the state -- not running around to every gun store asking to see 4473s! Be real! They want long guns registered because they know within one or two legislative sessions a Yee type bill will pass and then they can round up the AWs. This is not fantasy. It's history.

None of that proves anything about whether or not you own a gun or have ever bought one.

CA DOJ was required by law to destroy all DROS records of long gun purchase prior to 1/1/14. If it comes to your attention that they have not, consult an attorney.

I doubt they've got the time or resources to go scouring through those things trying to determine whether you bought a rusty old Mosin Nagant in 1998. They're going to have their hands full maintaining the long-gun database of information they're actually allowed by law to maintain. Very soon they're going to find even that is prohibitively expensive to maintain, time consuming, and useless.

Put the bong down, go outside, and get some fresh air. Enough with all the "they know EVERYTHING!!!" conspiracy talk.
