KFI 640AM Is reporting that Baca is immediately retiring by the end of the month. The also have Baca on a sound byte saying "He's not afraid" and is leaving due to "very private, personal matters" amoung other things.

It's very possible that, one year from now, ordinary people in LA will be able to carry concealed, and former Sheriff Baca will not be able to carry concealed.

It would actually be a retirement, since he has plenty of service time. He's just leaving before his term is up.

I heard on the news that he was going to recommend to the BOS that a female (I didn't catch her name) be appointed to finish out his term.
