You are correct, but you can also bet on these same lowlifes along with the local media to do their best to sink any candidate that even appears to be remotely pro-gun. We've got our work cut out for us. Also, most voters are too damned lazy to learn anything about who they vote for.

No. I'm just saying we need to be aware of what we're up against and prepare for the fight. You need to know your capabilities and your enemies'.

Thank you for telling me...since I was born just yesterday in Bangladesh and came by boat only an hour ago, I had no idea what and with who we are dealing here in California.

Dude, did someone piss on your cornflakes? I know you understand this, but do you deny that there are others on the forum who thinks this will be a simple task? Does it hurt to get them into the right frame of mind so that we can hopefully make some real progress?

After reading comments like "It's useless to try since the mass media and the board of supervisors are against us" I though your cornflakes smelled like urine and my cornflakes smell like testosterone.

Sorry if I refuse to do a testosterone filled war dance until Baca actually gets indicted for any violations.

Indicted or not, Baca will run for re-erection in 2014 and this scandal is a very big black eye for him. It will irk and upset a lot of his liberal supporters and donors who we all know are very sensitive when the human rights of (poor innocent disenfranchised victims of the capitalist society) err..felons who found themselves behind bars are trampled by sheriff's deputies.
Nobody here but you said that we should do a war dance. That being said, it is better to be pro-active than reactive. As the Romans said: "Si vis pacem, para bellum".

BINGO, Tanaka is not 2A friendly, he's not the Golden Boy

He's already on record about his feelings toward an armed citizenry...it's right along the same path as Baca

With both Baca And Tanaka under Federal scrutiny and possible charges, my guess is there will be a back room deal / plea bargain where maybe they are not charged but they will retire (with full benefits of course).

Seems like the door is wide open for someone new.

It looks like Bob Olmstead is running for Sheriff in the 2014 election against them.
Here's a link with some info on him, anyone know his 2A position?

From the page 2 or the article you linked:

Olmsted is running as a reformer, but that makes him seem more liberal than he is. In fact, like most cops, he is fairly conservative. Until recently, he was an Orange County Republican. (He moved to Long Beach and reregistered as an independent in order to run for office.)
Whistle blower who exposed baca and Tanaka's corruption; OC Republican - he may be our guy. I'm looking for his email, I will contact and ask him what is his position on shall issue LTC.

I will be voting for Olmstead, but Baca is 90% likely to win, Tanaka is 9% likely to win, and Olmstead... should be planning how he's going to spend his free time over the next 4 years.

And thus why he'll get re-elected.

Email to Bob Olmsted's election campaign:

subject: Bob Olmsted position on "shall issue" LTC

My name is (redacted) and I am a resident of Los Angeles County.

It is of notoriety that sheriff Leroy Baca is using the discretionary issuance of license to carry permits for concealed firearms (LTC) as a mean to repay political favors for his wealthy and well connected friends. While he (almost without exception) denies the average Joe or Jane's applications, he is well known to issue LTCs to Hollywood celebrities, politicians and wealthy people who make donations to his campaign. Read LA Weekly article http://www.laweekly.com/2013-02-14/news/sheriff-lee-baca-concealed-weapons-permit/"

I have the following questions for deputy Bob Olmsted:

                                1. Will the future L.A. County sheriff Bob Olmsted end this preferential treatment in LTC issuance policy and follow the example of sheriffs like Kern County's Donny Youngblood or Sacramento County's Scott Jones, who are issuing LTCs to any law abiding citizen who is requesting a LTC for personal protection?

                                2. Will the future L.A, County sheriff Bob Olmsted respect the constitutional protected right of his constituents to legally carry concealed weapons if they require them for self protection, or will the sheriff deny this right on the grounds that self protection is not a good enough reason to carry a concealed weapon?

                                Thank you,
                                (name redacted)
