Indicted or not, Baca will run for re-erection in 2014 and this scandal is a very big black eye for him. It will irk and upset a lot of his liberal supporters and donors who we all know are very sensitive when the human rights of (poor innocent disenfranchised victims of the capitalist society) err..felons who found themselves behind bars are trampled by sheriff's deputies.
Nobody here but you said that we should do a war dance. That being said, it is better to be pro-active than reactive. As the Romans said: "Si vis pacem, para bellum".

With both Baca And Tanaka under Federal scrutiny and possible charges, my guess is there will be a back room deal / plea bargain where maybe they are not charged but they will retire (with full benefits of course).

Seems like the door is wide open for someone new.

While he (almost without exception) denies the average Joe or Jane's applications, he is well known to issue LTCs to Hollywood celebrities, politicians and wealthy people who make donations to his campaign. 1. Will the future L.A. County sheriff Bob Olmsted end this preferential treatment in LTC issuance policy and follow the example of sheriffs like Kern County's Donny Youngblood or Sacramento County's Scott Jones, who are issuing LTCs to any law abiding citizen who is requesting a LTC for personal protection?

2. Will the future L.A, County sheriff Bob Olmsted respect the constitutional protected right of his constituents to legally carry concealed weapons if they require them for self protection, or will the sheriff deny this right on the grounds that self protection is not a good enough reason to carry a concealed weapon?
